Does anyone have a manners stock with his chassis/mag system that they bedded? Its supposed to be solid, but I believe I read about someone who went ahead and bedded it anyway. Anyone have pics and story of doing it?

Re: Manners mini chassis system

I have a t5a with the mini chassis. It doesn't just bed in it also has screws a screw in each side.

Considering you would have to machine a significant portion of the stock out just to get it in I would recommend that you have manners do it. You may also have a problem if your stock is now wide enough.

I don't think they even sell them alone i thought it had to come in a stock or be installed bythem

thomas manners- that's Tom manners user name on here I'd ask him any questions you have he is a very good guy that will go out of his wayto take care of you.

Re: Manners mini chassis system

I'm sorry I stated my question wrong... I know that it is molded in the stock, I was just wondering if anyone has bedded over it for a tighter fit for the action... Sorry about that.

Re: Manners mini chassis system

I should have mine in hand Wed or so and I will let you guys know. I know Tom had said that some people would do it, but if its anything like im expecting it to be then im not doing dick to it except torquing the action down.

That's pretty much what I am hoping for.

Re: Manners mini chassis system

I will be picking up my new Surgeon RSR/Krieger/Manners T5A from my rifle smith on Thursday. When I spoke with him a couple of days ago he said that it fits so well that he wants me to try it without skim bedding. He believes the way it is set up it will be solid and won't need to be bedded. I will be shooting next Friday and Saturday so I will let you know if I am going to take it back to him and have him skim bed it or shoot it as is.

Re: Manners mini chassis system

Thats what I hope as well... That would be awesome if it worked out that way. I just feel this itch in my hands to do it for accuracy sake though lol. I guess groups will tell. I also thought: "Well, if I get a recoil lug that completely fills the lug area, it might be even better".

Re: Manners mini chassis system

After running the T4A of my wifes with the Mini Chasis, i may skim bed it, but its highly doubtful, for a 1-9 factory barrel shooting 77 SMKs it did quite well. My only complaint is how long the damn rear action screw is

and hopefully the mags and mag well "break in" and smooth up a little bit. Over all the stock and mini chasis are great

Re: Manners mini chassis system

If you are running a custom action, I dont think you need to skim bed it because the outer surface of the action should be true and straight. The same can not be said for factory rem actions which are banana shaped, if you will.

Re: Manners mini chassis system

jawa,

Just shoot the thing and see how it performs. If it is not to your liking and you want to bed it, there is a local guy here that I have used that did a great job bedding one of my rigs, that is if you don't want to do it yourself.
