Bottom line. Will the mini chassis provide all the accuracy that actual pillar bedding would provide. I love the idea for sure, but accuracy is the name of the games i play. I am wanting a manners t2 or t3 stock and if i cant find a used one for sale i will order a new one with the chassis if the reports are good. Whats the scoop? Lee

Re: manners mini chassis

Lee, what are you doing over here? This isn't BR shootin'

I'm happy with my mini chassis. You will still need to skim bed it to get the accuracy potential you're lookin for. Mag fit and feeding is real smooth.

Re: manners mini chassis

I run them on my manners stocks. I saw no accuracy decrease when they came out of bedded stocks with no chassis block. Your safe on the accuracy department.

Re: manners mini chassis

Maybe someone can help me see if I'm missing something here. If you are installing a factory action in a mini chassis I can see where things aren't precise on the action and a skim bedding would help that.
If you are putting a precise custom action into the precisely machined mini chassis how would skim bedding help? Having a machinist background I would say that all things being precise and square to the thou lets say, not talking tenths here on the action and chassis squareness how can you get better than that if things are torqued properly?
We are not talking bench rest accuracy because there are alot of ammo things that come into play there. It would be nice to test a bench build with the chassis and see.

Re: manners mini chassis

Bedding ASSURES everything is perfect.
You can argue that the chassis is perfect, the action is perfect, and the alignment of said parts is perfect. And hope that it all is.

Or you can bed it and be SURE everything is stress free, pointing straight forward down your barrel channel. Not to mention that its no longer a V with only two lines of contact. Bedding also spreads the pressure out over the entire unserside of the action, all around it. Rather than two lines down the sides like aluminum Vs do.
Correct bedding can not be matched in my opinion.

Will it shoot fine without bedding in an AICS or Manners mini chassis? Ya 99+% of the time. But aren't you striving for perfection?

Re: manners mini chassis

I hear ya AZ. When I get my first shipment of Manners with the chassis I will test out without bedding and see. I don't see why someone would get the chassis if they were going to bed, doesn't make sense. That's why you got it in the first place.

Re: manners mini chassis

I believe in good bedding so strongly, that I wouldn't build a rifle and not do it. Unless the customer demanded I dont do it.
If they couldnt pay for it, I'd probably do it free(but lets not let that get out)

Chassis stocks included.

But, like I said above, many times it prolly doesnt matter. Ive seen more than a couple rifles shoot great unbedded in AICS's. None of them had good lug contact. And one didnt have ANY lug contact! Shot half inch still.

The biggest benefit to the Manners mini chassis that I see isnt even the bedding topic. Its the fact that the bottom metal is part of the aluminum block. All one piece right? Thats Awesome.

A Mcmillan or Manners stock, with a Manners mini-chassis inletted into it, with a bedded action atop that is the best set up I cant think of for strength/durability and accuracy potential

Re: manners mini chassis

I have Mark Gordon (Short Action Custom) building me a 223 Remington right now with a Manner’s T2 and a Mini Chassis. You can ask him what he thinks of it and how he is bedding it. Hopefully I will see the rifle soon.

Re: manners mini chassis

Just shoot it and see how it does. If it shoots good leave it alone or bed it and see if it improves. The bad thing is that if you dont bed it and it shoots good you will always wonder how much better would it shoot if you bedded it.
