Just noticed this on their website. Funny thing is, my gunsmith ordered me an MCST3 in GAP Desert camo last week. I hope it comes to me in the right color. Im kinda bumbed. I really liked their GAP camo jobs.

Re: Manners No Longer Offering GAP Camo

Manners has a thread on here stating they were no longer doing painted/custom camo on their stocks so they could focus on their core business of stock making. They still do solid color paint and of course their molded in camo.

Re: Manners No Longer Offering GAP Camo

I read their site and it sounds as if you won't be affected. Furthermore, they advise that they will forward any new stocks to a known custom painter which seems fine especially if the stocks will be getting out quicker.

Tom (Manners) has posted about this very topic just a few days ago. Perhaps you should search a little and you get the answers you seek.

Right from Manners site!

Custom Camo

As of the first of the year we are making a change to our custom finishes. We will no longer offer custom painted camos direct through us. We will only offer molded in colors and the same high end solid color painted stocks that we have for years. This will not effect any current orders all ready in the system, they will be completed and shipped as ordered, it will only effect new orders.

The main reason that we have moved in this direction is to focus a 100% on what we do best, manufacture the highest quality stocks available.

We feel that by doing this we will be able to better server our customers in the long run and that it will help us reach some of 2012 goals. Due to the tremendous support of our customers, we continue to have a huge amount of growth. Which brings us to the biggest goal of 2012, to reduce the lead times. The first part of this goal was our move in 2011 to our new facility. The second part was the addition of the night shift which we started a month ago. The third part is streamlining the operation and making sure that we are 100% focused on what we do best, make stocks. Also buy doing this it will help us reach our goal of becoming an industry leader in innovation and release new products like the new line of folding stocks. We are also look forward to releasing a few other new projects in the next few months.

We had a hard time making this decision, but we feel that there are some very good custom painters out there that do tremendous work. They are also 100% focused on doing what they do best, high-end camo’s. Below is a list of custom painters that we work very close with. Once your stock is done, you will have the choice of us shipping direct to you or we will be more than happy to forward your stock to one of them for a custom coating.
----------------------------------------------------------

Although I am not thrilled about it as I like the idea of "one stop shop" I can see where they are coming from. I am just a little upset as I was going to order another stock for a Hunting rifle build and now I will have to wait for the stock, then ship it off to another place to get it painted and deal with another lead time and not to mention extra shipping. But again, I can see where Manners is coming from and I rather have the quality they put out continue, even if it is with a little inconvenience....
Best of luck in 2012, Tom and Crew!

Re: Manners No Longer Offering GAP Camo

Customers that are wanting camos for their new Manners Stocks can get them without a problem, and without having to ship them to another place to have them painted. I have been doing the camos for manners for over a year, and started to do camos at my own shop prior to this change. If you are wanting a camo on your Manners Stock, just let them know that you are wanting me to do the camo, and they'll pass it off to me. Since i'm local, you don't have to pay to have them ship it to me. I'll take it from their shop to my shop, paint it, and ship it to you.

I understand it's not quite the "one stop shopping", but it's pretty close.

If there are any questions on camos, please let me know via PM or email.

Re: Manners No Longer Offering GAP Camo

I am the other person listed on the Manners Web site for custom paint work. There is zero reason to worry about not getting any particular pattern done to your stocks. Same thing applies to me. Manners will ship the stock directly to me and then I on to you with a top notch custom paint work in either true DuraCoat or Cerakote. This means that you will get your stock back sooner than normal. Once it gets to me it will be heading on to you in short order and done extremely well.
