I have been looking at buying a new scope for extreme range shooting. Now most of the high magnification scopes that I have been looking at have 100 MOA of elevation adjustment but the March 1 - 10 has 200 MOA and parallax adjustment.

Now I know that it is only a 10x magnification scope but the 200 MOA of elevation would come in handy!

Anyone ever have a go with this scope? What are your thoughts?

Re: March 1 - 10x24 for Extreme range shooting?

I have attempted to use a 3.5x10 Leupold Mk4 to a mile when it was on a 50 BMG (last minute shoot and was the scope mounted at the time), but between limited resolution, magnification and adjustment have migrated to Nightforce NXS 5.5x22 scopes along with everyone else in the group.

Interesting option, but for most shooting the far side of a 1000 yards one typically tends to use something that is more specialized than what type guns a 1 to 10 power is typically needed on . That said if one had a very accurate rifle that needed a ~ 1 power scope (i.e. a bolt gun in 300 Mag also use for hunting very close big game or maybe a fast twist 243 semi shooting low drag bullets), guess it would work ... but this is more an answer looking for a question ;-)

Lastly with a 24mm objective at X10 power one would in theory have not the brightest imaged, in particular on darker days / dawn/dust.

What about the S&B 5-25x56? It has 26 mils in the turret, and using holdover in the P4 reticle you should have approx 8 mils extra at 25x, or 13 mils at 15x. A total of 39 mils ( 135 MOA) at 15x. And the Leupold MK4 16x has about 150 MOA elevation IIRC.

i have a march and its a great scope and while the elevation is great its not the best for ELR shooting you just want a bit more magnification.

10x for 1000 yards is a bit tight a min of 14 is a little more workable but more is always more helpful if your after small groups

Re: March 1 - 10x24 for Extreme range shooting?

I shoot f-class and find myself using the 15-25x range depending on how many targets I want to look at while shooting. 10x is good for tactical targets, not so much for small things that far out.

PS: The NF has a total of 100moa elevation, that means 50 up and 50 down. You would need a 50moa base to get the full 100moa travel for elevation. The S&B only has 26mil (90moa) of 65moa depending on which model.
