I bought this scope to play with on an SR-15 I have that's been sitting in the safe and gets little use. I typically don't like turrets that are set up for one bullet, but I figured that since I have 10k rounds of XM855 stocked piled for when the Russians invade I'd give it a shot.
The turrets are marked out to 1000 I think for a 62gr Green Tips.
I got the special purpose reticle. It has hash marks, but I can just barely make them out on max power. Then need to be thicker or my eyes are just that bad.
Doesn't really matter as I can just dial it in since the turret is marked.
The turrets are 1/2 MOA per click and I think it hold over marks can be used on a 308 as well, just hashes are different ranges. They are the same I think to like 400yrds or so.

The scope is beefy and the M2 turrets are positive and have a great feel to them.
I compared the glass quality to my NF 2.5-10 side by side and I can't see a big difference at all. I would go as far to say the Leupold is brighter and a touch clearer. I tested it last night right up until dark and it was really good in low light. The eye box is very forgiving and on 1.5x it's very fast. Head position isn't a big deal with this scope. The zero stops work great as well.
After I set my zero at 100 (which was 1moa off in a Larue Mount), I tested the bullet drop out to 400. It was dead nuts on. I didn't have very high expectations for this scope, but I can say Leupold has come a long way with their glass.
The illumination on this scope is perfect and you can see it during the day in moderate sunlight. It has off settings between each setting. Not sure if it has an auto off or not. I don't know if it's NVG compatible, but it appears it may be as I can't see the reticule on low setting at night.
For $900 I'd say this scope is a good buy.
My only complaint is I can't see the hold over marks at any power setting (edited to add power setting doesn't make a difference as the reticule is in the 2nd FP). They are just barely visible, but most of this is due to my bad eyes. It's a hell of a buy at $900. It's pretty idiot proof if your shooting XM855's. Just dial it in and shoot. It's also marked in MOA so you can still dial it in 1/2 minute clix if your shooting another load. It's a perfect SHTF scope as one would probably be using XM855 steel cores and it's what I stockpile (just in case). lol

The illuminated Special Purpose reticle ensures precision shot placement in even the worst light conditions, and is night-vision compatible.
This reticle is ideal in tactical situations, yet also provides greater accuracy of range estimation for hunters and target shooters.
The Xtended Twilight Lens System™ optimizes the transmission of low-light wavelengths, so you see the details of low-light scenes in greater, brighter detail than with any other riflescope available.
Low-profile, finger-adjustable ½-MOA windage and elevation adjustments with audible, tactile clicks.
Engraved Bullet Drop Compensation dial for 5.56mm/.223 Rem.
30mm maintube is incredibly rugged.
120-MOA of both windage and elevation adjustment.
Rugged and absolutely waterproof, these MR/T riflescopes meet all Leupold Mark 4 performance standards.
Our all-new, third-generation illumination will keep you on target like never before. We’ve boosted performance with a 15 percent brighter reticle, 8 different intensity settings, and a redesigned, user-friendly interface.

Re: Mark 4 1.5-5x20mm MR/T M2 REVIEW

UPDATE:
I used it this am before the sun cam up with a PVS-14 mounted behind the optic and the lowest setting worked great. Was a little bright, but I just the gain down and it worked great.
Did some more shooting with this scope today and it's definitely underrated.
I keep forgetting there are good scopes out there for under $3000

The one thing holding me back from buying this scope has been the 1.5X low end. Do you feel like this is a drawback compared to a 1X low end? Can you use it like a red dot on the lowest setting?

I run mine at 1.5x all the time , use it just as I would my Eotech. I feel more confident with it than I do the Eotech .Plus if needed I can just twist it up to 5x for medium distance or percision shots.I have one that stays on my Ruger SR556/6.8.It has become my favorite medium range Whitetail rifle. 6 deer wished I had some other optic last year!

Thanks for the answer!! I can get pretty good pricing through promotive, and I may get one for a 3gun build I am working on.
