Hey all,

Just to be clear, I tried contacted Boyd's about this today and they were swamped so I did not get a response. Not complaining, just stating.

So I have been fixing up my old Marlin Model 60, and I decided I would give a Boyd's Thumbhole Stock a try (considering pretty much no one else makes Marlin 60 Stocks ha).

Here are links to the 2 I was choosing between. The first is clearly marked as "Unfinished". The second says it has a "Black Texture Finish", but in the description, says "Unfinished parts require final sanding and finish"

First Stock

Second Stock

I purchased the second and it arrived yesterday. The entire stock is (I assume) finished, but the inletting appears to not be.

My questions (finally) are, does that matter? Do I need to sand out and finish the inletting, or just use the stock as is? I know zero about wood work and finishing, hence the questions haha

Does it fit and function as is? If not then yes, look for points of contact and you migh have to work on it a little. IF it fits in fine and functions flawlessly, then I ay leave it...

Re: Marlin 60 Boyd's Stock Question

I have yet to transfer the trigger assembly over (waiting on DIP to get me a new trigger first), but I set the action in it yesterday to test the fit.

It was a hair snug (just slightly more than the standard plastic stock), but I really didnt have to FORCE it into the stock
