Well, it was New Yr's eve and the first time I get to hunt (archery) with my Dad (flintlock) this year. (Other times he was out with his buddy)
.
Well being the wonderful son I am, I send him to my ladder stand I put up a few weeks ago. The same ladder stand that I caught a beeeeautiful 8pt on my trail cam.
.
Due to this it left me using my climber which was already in the woods and locked on a tree via heavy cable and the lock shown below. I got the lock to replace one which seemed to not be working as well. WELL the one time I used this master before it worked great.
.
Well for those unfamiliar with new years eve here in south cent. Pa it was snowing (a dusting that turned into about 2"'s). I tried to unlock without light but shined a bit of red led on it to make sure I was putting things in correctly. Boom was in and turned well pulled on lock and nothing happened. Went to try key again realized it was mostly still in the lock. Well ended ground hunting and doing drives the rest of the day.
.
Went back today and got the remainder of the key out, which went rather well. Well put the one decent key in and tried to unlock. Well it turned but would not open. Well I was about ready to get the bolt cutters when I decided to give it another shot. Well turning the key and holding it there I give a good firm steady tug (keep in mind its holding a thick cable around a good tree so thats solid.) Well it finally opens and the freakin top pulls right outta the lock. I was less than impressed before now I can't believe the lack of quality. Heres whats left:
