match chamber difference ?

Re: match chamber difference ?

"Match" means that it is a minimum spec chamber, so the tolerances between the chamber wall and the cartridge are very close. A regular chamber has a larger tolerance so all types of factory ammo can be used. Some match grade chambers only allow the use of match grade ammo and/or match grade components.

Re: match chamber difference ?

In general, a "match" chamber will be at absolute minimum dimensions, allowable by SAAMI or CIP for that particular cartridge.

Beyond that, there are other factors including how much freebore there is, and what angle the leade into the rifling is set at.

You're take away from Kimber saying "match" should be that it's tight.
