So... if one were to get a barrel nitrided, on a stainless action, with an aluminum chassis stock & scope rail (normally anodized)... what would be the best way to get a reasonable match between the finishes? Assuming the satin / matte black finish of the nitrided barrel is the desired color/texture...

TIA,

Monte

Paint it all afterwards.

What he said.

Really that is the only way to match the color. Even the same material (stainless action and barrel) will turn out different shades of black, even though it might be minor it still can be noticed in different light conditions.

Hmmm... this is going to be on a target (iron sights/sling) rifle where 'painting' is not very common... I assume you mean something like Cerakote and not Krylon?

I've tried a semi-matte satin black Duracoat before; loved the 'look', didn't like the durability so much.

Re: Matching a melonite/nitride finish

For a target rifle, consider kg gunkote in a matte black. Durable and does not have the heat retention of a ceramic based coating.

It's a trade name for a nitriding process.

Ever heard of tennifer?
That's glock's name for their nitriding process.

Link? Examples? </div></div>

Google Springer Precision. I also posted pics of my Badger after ionbond in the Bolt action section. Not smart enough to figure out how to post links...
