hi all

I have recently purchased an original Mauser 98k (42 model)in 7.92x57mm IS and i am looking to reload the cartridges, i have been reading up about the history of the cartridge as i know very little on this subject. I would like to know if it is possible to reload the military brass i have with the weapon, which has the Berdan primer system. Is this possible and what tools do i need to accomplish this if possible ??

(p.s i cannot buy commercial brass due to an adminstrative problem.... i.e living in france).

many thanks

Re: mauser 98k muntions

You can reload them, if they're crimped primers (more than likely) then it's an even bigger pain.

If someone was to send you brass could you do it? I have some 8mm brass that I can get to you, I just don't want my customs agents knocking on the door asking why I was breaking the law.

hi chris

Thanks for the info, just what i needed. Some really
useful tips.

As for the commercial brass, im going to find out about it as the mauser is classed as a "war caliber" in france and i don't know if there are regulations on it. I will let you know.

regards
Brent

My friend reloads berdan primed cases all the time and while more time consuming it's well worth the effort. You just need the berdan primer decapping tool and the correct primers. Just google it and you'll find a source.
