Hi guys, I'm in the process of building a 7mm-300 win mag and want to shoot out to 1 mile or 2000 yards for target shooting only. I've been really thinking about stock vs chassis and these are some options I really like. My two most important considerations are controlling recoil and weight. I want an adjustable butt pad so that I can put it in line with the bore and a heavier weight ~5lbs. The Mirage ULR chassis definitely controls inline recoil but the aesthetics and price make this a last option.
I use a thumb on top of stock grip for my firing hand but does using a chassis affect the grip? Also I hear about aluminum chassis having a ringing noise when shooting?
For someone who has never used a chassis before, should I go modern aluminum chassis or traditional style stock?
Thanks!
