Last weekend I became the proud owner of a Remington 700. This little beauty came equipped with a McMillan A3-5 stock with a couple of the Michael's Flush Mount Cups in the side. I know these are sling attachments, but this is the first rifle I have owned with this attachment system. The general question is as follows. Is this a pretty standard spec attachment system? More specifically, will (just about) any push button sling swivel just pop right in there? Or is this a brand specific type thing where I'm confined to the specific options listed by McMillan? IE either the sling studs or Wichita swivel & loops listed on the McMillan website. I'd rather put a few PBSS's directly into the cups instead of studs then SS's, just to have less links in the chain, but I'd do that over dropping $93 on the wichita loops. Any input will be much appreciated. Thank you.

Re: McMillan Flush Mount Cup hardware options

Thanks for the intel, and for the warm welcome! I'll look into those PBSS's, but I'd still like to know about the specs of the swivel cups if anyone knows. As I'm sure many here, I have a drawer full of odds and ends I've accumulated that didn't quite work, or weren't what I thought they'd be. You know, $20-40 lessons... but my drawer is about full.

It's all standard spec. I have heard quality varies, though. GrovTec US is the go to manufacturer used by most. Triad is great to deal with.

I would not switch them out for another type of mount. Flushcups are great. They are quick, secure, and leave your stock smooth (no protrusions like the old style studs).

There is a video somewhere of a guy doing pullups on a rifle suspended by its fluchcup mounts...

AR-10T, The flush cups we use are our design but made for us by Grov-Tec. We carry the standard Grov-Tec push button loops for them in 1", 1 1/4" and 1 1/2" Heavy Duty sizes. Wichita sling loops have nothing to do with the flush cup inserts and will not work in them. Wichita's are a permanent non-detachable heavy duty loop that is screwed into a steel strip imbedded inside the stock as it is made. They must be ordered with the stock as it is being made, we will not add them to a already finished stock.
All the standard Uncle Mikes push button sling loops you find in the local gun stores will work just fine in these flush cups.

Re: McMillan Flush Mount Cup hardware options

P.S. The "flush cup sling stud adaptors" were designed to be able to put a standard sling stud into a stock that has flush cups installed. There are some slings available in the market that have sewn-in (non-removable) sling loops that require a standard stud. These were designed to accomodate these slings but this is a silly and expensive way to attach a standard sling. Also, these adaptors set about 1/8" higher above the stock than a standard sling stud and the Harris bipods will run out of room on the tightening screw and will not attach tightly on many stock designs if you try this. For a Harris bipod attachment just order a standard sling stud. These are machine screw studs that screw into a steel T-nut inside the stock and can be unscrewed if you want to take them off the stock and just screwed back in to re-install.

Re: McMillan Flush Mount Cup hardware options

Thank you guys so much, I really appreciate it! The stock has a standard sling stud for the bipod, so that won't be an issue. In fact it already has a harris bipod slapped on it. I'll get some loops and be ready to party. plus in the down time I can use it as a pull up bar!
