I have recently acquired an MCX (gen 1) and looking to get a 9" .300 BLK barrel. For those of you that do not know barrels (especially legacy) are hard to come by. I have seen a few 16" barrels up for sale and was possibly going to send it to Parker Mountain Machine to have it cut down but I noticed there is a twist rate difference. Sig makes all of their .300 BLK barrels 1:5 except the 16" which is a 1:6. I am new to the .300 BLK game and have been reading that 1:8 has problems stabilizing lighter super sonic loads. I guess my question is if this same problem will appear when I cut down a 1:6 barrel to 9". Kind of important since I plan on suppressing this.
I have emailed PMM about this and haven't heard back but I will post what they say for anyone with this same situation.
