I'm not sure if this a magazine or a bottom metal problem, dont really care, just need a solution.

Built a new 223 rem 700 and the front to back fit of the exterior of the magazine is loose and when shooting the font of magazine falls forward till it hits the bottom metal and is causing the rounds to nose dive into the feed ramp and jam. If I push up on the front of the mag it feeds like butter.

I put a couple layers of tape on the front of the mag and it helped but is a bitch to get it in the bottom metal smoothly.

My other solution is the ad a small amount of epoxy to the back of the catch on the magazine to push it forward into the front of the bottom metal.

Anyone have a different idea on this?

CDI shouldn’t have issues with the MDT, according to their site. Obviously you, on the other hand, are having a clear issue. If getting the right fitting mag isn’t an option, I would guess you could smear some Acra-glass or the like on the front of the mag. For a more permanent fix. But I would only do that as a last resort.

I had this issue with CDI and the old Accuracy Intl mags. Fixed it by Putting some JB weld on the inside of the front of the mag well but it still was finicky depending on how the mag was inserted. Now I’m using a metal accurate mag without the epoxy and it works much better but they are expensive.

Dang it. Lol. Was hoping new mags was the last resort. Guess I'll just order some

I’ve tried 4 different brands of 223 mags and all four of them have different dimensions. Don’t know why they can’t all get on the same page. Btw STAY AWAY from the Ruger polymer mags. Total junk.
