Was there an Mloc slot or something that it attached to?

No mlok. There is already a contour on the chassis from the factory in that spot. The thumb rest comes with double sided tape as well as is drilled if you wanted to drill and tap the chassis for a screw. Mine is only double sided tape and has held up great.
