Hi all,
I have a buddy that is using the MDT LSS XL (Gen 1) chassis with a Savage 110 Long action chambered in 338 LM. He bought the MDT at the recommendation of a local gunsmith to replace the original stock. The barreled action is standard savage including the accu-trigger system.
He is having an ignition consistency problem. He can cycle the bolt and pull the trigger but 5 out of 10 times, all you get is a click. The cartridge does not ignite. It doesn't even seem that the firing pin contacts the primer consistently. A couple of the cartridges show a slight dimple.
The local smith has tried a bunch of things and has told him that even replacing the accu-trigger with another brand won't solve the problem. I find it hard to believe that it is the chassis but he didn't have this problem with the original stock.
Anyone out there ever hear or experience this before? All comments are welcome.
