MDT_Josh I’m having trouble with first 6.5 round not catching. The bolt slides over the round. It works better if I take out the top round.

Am I not inserting (i.e. banging) the mag in hard enough. I’ve got two plastic mags. Savage and MDT, both are the same except branding on the bottom.

Guys, would a metal mag solve this? Thanks H

Ok, the rear of the bullet is too low... but subsequent rounds are fine? I don’t see how that possible if the rounds are up making full contact with the magazine lips. Is the last round not getting pressed all the way up in the mag?
You’ll know if it’s not all the way in because oh can pull it out. It’s either catched or not.

If I take the mag out, I can push out the top round pretty easily. So maybe it wasn’t pushed in enough. It’s tight to insert the last round. I do tap the mag towards the rear to seat the rounds but I’ll re-check the last one. Thanks

Had the same problem with a 308 Remington 700 5R in a whiskey 3. Now I have an Impact in 6.5 Creedmoor in the whiskey 3. Sometimes the bolt rides over, and sometimes it feeds.

I ordered the MPA feedlip bender tool and it comes in Wednesday. Here’s a pic from the range last week. I think the rounds are sitting too low, so I’m going to try opening the lips up to see if that helps

I remember with my 1911 Trying to get the mag in. One guy finally said “dude it’s a 1911 and just jam that thing in there”. I think that’s what I’ve got to do with my Savage Evo. Just jam the mag up in there like a man.

could buy a metal mag and play around with the feed lip. Bend them up little by little till it feeds. I had to do this with my AR mags. You can also adjust th angle the bullet feeds at the top slightly too.
