Re: Me and my AMAC

how much does that weight? that looks like one heavy sob to be toting all over the hills, sweet rifle though! wish i had a place like that to trek. round my parts its up down up down can't see more than 100yds on average. i bought a sporter barrel rifle just cuz my bull barrel 700's are to heavy to tote. I'm jealous sir

Re: Me and my AMAC

The Utah desert is so vast it's hard to imagine sometimes. I was out walking in the mountains today and it was so quiet that it's like a dose of natural prozak.

My AMAC weighs 36 pounds with the MK 4 scope. It's heavy compared to my 14 pound M40A1 but not too bad to heft around.

Not the RW you were asking, but out here you can get as far as you want. I have several spots out to 2000 yards within about 20 minutes of my house and 3000+, not much further than that. You get out of the city and the sky's the limit. If your going out to the Salt Flats for the races, you drive past about 80 miles of open range.

Re: Me and my AMAC

Gorgeous back drop.....lots of potential for fun out there. I really loved the little time I got to spend in Utah. Beautiful country you folks have there.

Russ,
i was outhere in Tooele when went to see my engine builder.
i've seen alot of open land as far as the eye could see,but wasn't sure if your allowed to shoot in those places .even behind the Saltflats its open country.that would ideal for some longrange target practice.

Re: Me and my AMAC

I have a one mile (1760 yard) range staked with gps readings with steel targets. One of the problems with the vast desert is finding a place to shoot from that is elevated a few feet so you dont lose your target when you get prone. My range is elevated at the firing line just enough to see the targets but not enough to cause an angle shot.

I also have a 5 foot square steel plate.

Re: Me and my AMAC

Man,
i've got at least 4 longrange rigs and all i'm able to shoot around here is 500-600 yd.
i'm going to have keep one overthere with someone so i can do some serious shooting next time i'm there, even if its just for a couple of days.
I'll even pay for some range time.
