It's too simple gents. All everyone needs to do is be very vigilant. When we see one of these people spouting former military service and the highest awards, we simply look to our membership and see who's local. Then the individual in question gets a visit with strongly worded messages to cease and desist, insuring to publically announce their deception. If they do not do so in say seven days, an ass whooping is issued with the message again repeated. If someone has to travel 50 miles to lay an ass whoopin on, then the local guy buys the beer and food.
If anyone here has an issue with doing this, well I guess you can line up to collect your milk toast at 5 sharp, then get tucked in at promptly 8 by your mom so you don't have to stomach the work of real men with your thin skinned quesiness and weakness

This seems to suggest that the acts of bravery and selflessness committed by the honest recipients are without any intrinsic worth if the act of stealing this valor 'hurts noone'. Just stupid. This is embarrassing and insulting.

It sickens me, but all our courts can seem to see is the criminals' rights, and not their victims'. They're so afraid of upsetting anyone that all they've become is a glaring disappointment incarnate.

America is gettin' fracked day by day, and it's our own government that's doing it.

Enough! Somebody has to say it, and if I happen to be the first, so be it.

Damn good point,How about if I falsify a University Degree ? And land a serious job based on it,guess I just Fake it till I make it and no consequences because that would be a violation of my free speech.

What bullshit. Hell, you can go to jail for pretending to be a licensed architect if you're not, but you can claim to be a decorated vet with no repercussions? Bullshit. This ruling will get overturned. There are to many instances when making false claims constitutes fraud, to say that such speech is protected. The 9th just doesn't like anything military.

WTF, over. Yeah, I think they deserve a whuppin! I've never served in the armed forces. My grandfathers both did. Anyone claiming to have served, especially in an elite unit, is just another glorified armchair commando, and deserves an ass-kicking from the real deal.

I wouldn't run out and buy a police uniform, but I do like your ass-whoopin idea. I will gladly visit anyone who may need talking to in Ct. I would add that seeing as how "freedom of speech" covers someone who falsely claims to have been awarded a MOH, that same freedom would surely cover a member of our community should they make known the identity, address, phone # and employer of said offender. Their dishonesty may not get them arrested, but it can get their dumb-ass face on the front page of the local paper! (freedom of the press!)
I just find it really ironic that someone would <span style="font-weight: bold"> <span style="font-style: italic">lie</span></span> about having recieved a Medal of <span style="font-weight: bold"> <span style="font-style: italic">Honor</span> </span> !

As far as those statistics on the Vietnam Veteran "posers", The numbers are staggering! I probably shouldn't be so surprised, since I live in a state where the Attourney General
himself lied, publicly, on camera about having served in Vietnam!

I see your point and you are right. I should have used better judgement in my wording. I respect the laws of our country and rules of our forum and have no intent to violate either. The better way to go would be talking (literally) to the offender and explaining to them how their actions are disrespectful to those who have fought to ensure the very right that allows them to lie about it. Making his identity public and humiliating him in front of his family, friends, neighbors and employers would help the concept "sink in".
Anything beyond that would be wrong.

If I ran a business and found one of my workers doing that crap, I would fire the asshole instantly using grounds that he cannot be trusted adn lacks integrity which is outside the parameter's of the company's mission and business plan.
