Gunsmithing MHS AI barrel threading vs Local Gun Smith?

I have an AE mkiii barrel I’d like to get threaded, is it worth sending off to Mile High to get done or will a local gun Smith suffice? I haven’t had any gun smithing done before so not sure if there’s a benefit in sending to Mile High or not.

Send it to Mile High. You'll have the peace of mind knowing that they'll get it right vs. joe bob whoever that may or may not have ever seen an AI let alone heard of one. The chances are higher the local guy will muck it up.

I would agree with Trigger Monkey except I would ask where do you live. If you live around other top gunsmiths like Dave Tooley, Wade Stuteville, GA Precision, Long Rifles Inc., Terry Cross, Mark Soulie or someone like that, they will do just as good of a job, but if your local gunsmith is a small shop that usually does work on run of the mill hunting rifles then I would go to Mile High

I’m sorry. Any local gunsmith (thats worth plug nickle) can indicate C/L bore off range rod and thread bbl. It aint rocket science and you have substancial margin for error

I’m in be same boat now, just moved out to Virginia recently and haven’t had any work done out here. I would rather find someone close-ish just because I go through 2 barrels a year at least.
