Match Description

This is a match themed around the concept of the military designated marksman rifle. Not quite a sniper rifle nor light infantry rifle, the DMR platform fills a jack-of-all-trades master of nothing role. It can accurately engage targets out past 600yds, but can still be used at close distances. The value of this type of rifle has been recognized throughout the military and has been adapted by both law enforcement officers and civilian shooters. This match aims to test a shooter’s marksmanship ability when using such a firearm.

The match will consist of a mix of steel and paper targets. Overall, the match will be scored on the number of points a shooter accumulates throughout the day. Each stage has its own time constraints and course of fire.

With the exception of the essential equipment mentioned below, it is up to the shooter what additional equipment they bring. All types of shooting supports are allowed. Some stages will require a participant to shoot with ALL of their equipment on, including any backpacks, web gear, holsters, plate carriers, etc. Shooters will not be allowed to return to their vehicles until the match is over. Wagon's or shooter carts are not permitted.

The weather for the day should also be taken into consideration. Dress accordingly. The shooter should carry enough food and water for a full day of match participation.

All types of optics on rifles and pistols are allowed. That being said, shooters will need to be able to shoot out to 600yds accurately. Distances will be provided at all stages. The majority of targets will be between 200yds-500yds. For the most part, targets will be 2-3MOA in size.

Logistics

The Match is going to be held on May 6, 2017, at Blue Water Sportsman's Association (4866 Ravenswood Rd., Kimball, MI 48061-0464). More information about BWSA can be found on the club's website (www.bwsa.club).
Shooter sign in starts at 7:30 a.m. and last till 8:30 a.m. Promptly at 8:30, there will be a safety brief, ALL SHOOTERS MUST BE IN ATTENDANCE. The match will start at 9:00. All stages should be over by 5:00 p.m. There will be pizza afterwards and scores will be announced. Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place…and rookie of the year!

Fees for the match are $75. Match fees will be paid the morning of the match (cash or check). Shooters must RSVP to the match by messaging me through this site. In this message, you must include: (1) your full name; (2) what caliber and type of rifle you plan to use; (3) whether there are other shooters you prefer to be squaded with; and (4) your level of experience in competitive shooting sports. recon762 - Are mask fins and snorkel allowed? Looks like a couple inches of rain through Saturday. Just wondered if you are going for it regardless?
