Mil Brass Primer Swage Tool vs Primer Uniformer

Re: Mil Brass Primer Swage Tool vs Primer Uniformer

I've done it but it took a long time to get the mil crimp out. That's quite a bit of brass to remove. Usually when you uniform a pocket, you're removing very little, as you know already.

You might look at one of the crimp removers, as they tend to be cheaper. I have an RCBS CasePrep (?) that has both of those tools.
Not as fast as a swager but does the job.

A primer pocket "uniformer" is meant to flatten and cut the pocket to the proper depth. It isn't meant in any way to remove the crimp.

My sinclair uniformer will do a great job doing just what Victor N TN mentioned, cutting the pocket to uniform depth. It will not however remove the crimp.

You can use a case mouth chamfer tool to cut it out, leaving a small angle on the entrance of the primer pocket.

+1 for the case mouth chamfer tool. I have one from lee and it was very inexpensive. It may take a bit more time, but I found it to be more effective than the swaging machine from Dillon.
