The only blue part of VA :(
i'm looking for a new scope for my mkII. currently running a weaver 4-16 target dot, which is nice... but a) the target dot is TINY and unuseable come dusk and b.) i want a mildot with exposed turrets to practice with.

i have an SWFA SS 3-9 on my 308. ideally i would want something with similar (or slightly more) magnification and MIL adjustments... but i know thats probably not going to happen... hell, i'd put another SS on it if it focused down to 25M but the one i have on my 308 wont.

im ok with shelling out some cash i mean hell... i shoot the 22 WAY more than the 308 so why not?

interested to see what shows up...

thanks!!

Re: mildot and able to focus 25m?

The MK12 SPR .22 I built has a 3.5-10X40 from eXplore Optics. It's sort of a Leupold MK4 clone.
Focuses to 10yd, big tactical knobs, available with illuminated mil dot.
Claims 1/8" clicks, but may actually be 1/10 mil! By my estimation it's about 3 clicks to the inch.
Around $300

wow. thats a big difference from advertised to actual. that actually makes me want to stay away from them.

I imagine falcon will... but i believe they are based in the UK... if possible i like to deal with US distributors

hahahaha... yes... the S&B would be ideal.

and while it wouldnt ruin my marriage.. i am comparably poor.

or i have too many hobbies.

I'll take a look at the Falcon and the SS Fixed 10x. I think they should both focus to 10ish. I would think the SS would be the more durable of the two, i'd just have to settle for the MOA adjustments. =/

Re: mildot and able to focus 25m?

hey Bob,

I got this email back from Allen Gunworks when i asked about the Falcon scopes...

Due to export regulations imposed on us by the UK, we can no longer ship Falcon Optics products to the US. There are quite a few dealers down there from what I understand.

Thanks,

Mike

so i guess they arent in the US after all eh? =/

anyone else?

Re: mildot and able to focus 25m?

SkaerE,

Hmmmm, checking..... Allen gunworks is in Canada, not the US. Did not know that, just had them on my list of Falcon dealers.

RwSnyder, and Wonder Optics, are the only other one's I know.

On other Thread somebody said these guys:
Irvington arms

But they don't list any scopes at all.

Optics Warehouse in the UK is were I bought my Falcons from.

SOL I guess, Sorry,

Bob

Re: mildot and able to focus 25m?

ok laugh if you want to but have you looked at the tasco varmint i am going to buy two for my 10/22s. they are mildot, a/o, and i think target knobs reside under the caps. just thought id toss that out there. you could call and see what they focus to.

Re: mildot and able to focus 25m?

The above Tasco focuses down to 15yd, has about 75MOA of elevation available and can be had even cheaper than the link says. Here's a sampling of sources. The same features are available on a 2.5-10X version, too. Oh, and if you have Veteran/Active Military ID, Dick's gives a 10% discount.

Re: mildot and able to focus 25m?

I have the afore mentioned Tasco Varmint mildot.
The ones I have do not have anywhere near 75 moa.
They focus down to about 15 yds, seem to return zero, (so far).
The 6-24 is correct for mils at 8 power, I often shoot at a mark I made at what claims 14.5 power, but is 1/2 mil between dots.
When I did some QC last fall I could get 36 minutes up (it is on a EGW 20 moa base), although the knob would turn another 15 minutes, the reticule/poi quit moving at 36. It did return zero.
It is adequate for what I use it for and what I paid.
I have 2.5-10 on a 17HMR and (2) 6-24 one on a .308 (tested) and one on a .22LR.

Re: mildot and able to focus 25m?

I too have a 6-24x Tasco Varmint on a parts AR. It's is adequate for the price, but nowhere near what I would consider "quality".

I have not checked the Mildots for spacing because on this rifle I generally don't use them. The scope returns to zero and that is the main goal. If I were to use this rifle for any serious purpose that scope would get ditched in a hot minute. In fact if I don't use my Falcon on my incoming 40x, then I will probably use it to replace the Tasco.

If you only have $100 to spend on a scope, the the Tasco is an option. If you can spend any more than that, then it's not.

Re: mildot and able to focus 25m?

i was thinking the dots would be good reference for shooting smallbore silhouette. that way i would not have to mess with the knobs, just learn the holdover

Re: mildot and able to focus 25m?

Not to change the subject but I've did a couple of reticles for some games we play.
I used TK Lee to do some multi dot reticles spaced at my specs.
My T-36 has 3 1/8min dots spaced for 50,100 and 150yds for 200 I add 15min
to the bottom dot, Works great.

Hawke also makes some nice reasonable stuff.
