Lets start off by saying, Yes, I'm new to LR shooting so take it easy please.

I use MD Ballistics on my iPhone, as part of the software it gives the ability to mil electronically. I'm wondering if anyone else as tried their software? Knowing the size of the object is a big part, as with doing it normally. The software does the math along with giving you a visual reference. Are there other features that I'm missing? Or using it with the wrong understanding?

Last weekend I went to the Chaffee County Range meet up. And using the posted ranges of the steel they have, I seen to able to accurately range my scope. I played with software while waiting for my rifle work to be completed and I hoping that I'm using it correctly.

Re: Milling Yardage

I just use the same formula above (27.778). I try not to rely on electronics. A simple solar/ battery calculator in a zip loc bag is sufficient. As far as an LRF is concerned, they are great to use in certain situations but remember they can be obscured by foliage between you and the target giving you false or no readings. With a scope as long as you can see it, you can mill it, but the angle you are milling from may throw off your reading a little bit

Re: Milling Yardage

the mildot master and the impact data book are in my binder that goes everywhere the rifle goes... and an iphone but just for the calculator and to tell my wife that i'm gonna be late

Re: Milling Yardage

I have a mil dot master and don't use it. I just taped a mil ranging chart to the back of my shooting log. I can't really see an advantage to doing it electronically.

Looks kinda like this but mine is in .1 mil increments.
