Mine cracked. Sent the gun back to get it repaired. This was a 183 series from early '80s. Got a letter back saying basically they could not repair it. What?? I know very well I could have repaired it by fitting a new bolt using my headspace gages--if only I could find a bolt. The letter offered me a new mini14 for a little less than what I figured was dealer price and they would destroy my old one, or they could send my gun back with no repairs. I chose the cutrate new one because I was tired of hunting for a bolt. When the new one came in at my FFL's, I just left it with him to sell. Unless I run across somebody practically giving away a used one, I don't figure I'll ever own another. Lost a lot of respect for Ruger during that fiasco. A major manufacturer that can't fit a bolt in their own gun? Sorry for the rant but You now have a more varied collection of opinions. You won't be taken by complete surprise if you receive a similar letter. JMO and YMMV
I now work with ARs--I can get every part unrestricted. You can mix/match/shuffle their parts and come up with an assembled firearm that works. None of this "To buy this part you must send in your gun for factory fitting" BS.
