I mentioned the disappointing results of load development using 62-grain military pulled (or IMI) bullets to an accomplished long-range competitor. He said the best you could expect from the bullets would be minute of stop sign.

The AR15 used is a custom build and fired from a rest. 5-shot "groups" were on the order of 2 inches at 100 yards. I'm accustomed to sub-MOA results from the rifle.

Before I continue tilting at that windmill, is that an accurate assessment of the potential of those bullets?

Thank you,
Richard

62gr USGI air/mechanical pulls are at best plinking bullets, or for zombie shit. 6" at 300 yards is probably sufficient for that kind of shooting.

I've loaded up and shot some 62gr USGI mechanically pulled green tips and looking at most of them, 2" at 100 yds is a blessing.

Thanks to all for the confirmation. I'll either load the rest (about 950) for plinking or possibly sell them. I really don't plink much. I use my ARs for matches and varmint hunting.

Cheers,
Richard
