Does anyone know if the Sako mirage band can be used with the Sako backup iron sights? Most of my use for iron sights would be close in. But, if I have a front iron sight mounted with a scope - is it possible to somehow attach the mirage strap (assuming I have a hook in the rear at my scope mount) to the front sight post and still use a scope for long distance? What I have seen is Sako makes a mirage strap kit with a match sight - but I haven't seen any match sight to attach to the front base. So, somehow I am missing something perhaps.

Ideally I guess I would prefer a detachable front sight that retains the ability to use a mirage strap, doesn't have an iron sight present in the sight picture in any way, but can, if needed be attached - if the scope were to be removed and a rear sight put in place.

Did a little hunting around. The mirage strap can be attached in several different ways using the Sako accessories:

1. attached to Sako 3 ring base ==> match/mirage band forward match sight screw

2. attached to Sako 3 ring base ==> front backup iron sight screw

3. attached to Sako 3 ring base ==> muzzle brake guide screw

Spuhr's TRG mount such at ST4801 has an optional accessory for around $30 that screws onto the mount and provides an attachment point for the rear part of the mirage strap.

I have read that Near also has an option for his Sako base that allows for a Mirage strap attachment. I will see if I can find a pic of that.

A field expedient mirage strap is something I may look at. Elastic strap material is easy enough to obtain and should present any stress on a barrel. Attachment shouldn't be to difficult and it would save about $40. I have also noticed some extra long sun shade.

on the front side of the barrel, the flat black painted "slat of venician blind" can be secured thanks to a hook/elastic,etc. clipped to a rubber O-ring _the o-ring is a little bit smaller than the barrel diameter, of course_

You can also try like this :
On the front thin inox cable inside electric thermic sleeve,
On the back piece of paracord and two pieces of velcros
On both side piece of carbon arrow for rigidity
