Re: Missouri BIG PINEY Multi Range F Class 16 May

The range is still looking OK after the last mowing. It should be good for Sundays Match. Getting a little rain every day is sure making the grass grow.
We have Law Enforcement Sniper School going on this week. The rain is not bothering them. They do look a little soggy once in a while, could be sweat though. We have 4 repeats and 3 new students in this class for a total of 7 students from 3 departments. Budgets being tight sure has an impact on training money. Of the 7 we have 4 paying for their own training.

Looks like we will have a big turnout Sunday. As we can only put up 25 F Class targets at one time, the game plan is after we get 25 shooters signed up, if any more arrive we will start bumping some of our local shooters to a second relay. This will let the guys and girls driving in from other states get done much earlier.

We have plans to convert 5 of the 4' X 4' target frames to 4' X 8" Vertical. This will have the number of targets maxed out at 30 until we add more height to the left side of the impact berm.
We have been at 22 shooters the last 2 daytime matches with some regulars missing on both shoots. Add our 7 students and we will break 25 this match with no problem unless weather really looks bad, which I do not think will be a problem. All we have been getting all week is small showers.

It is Not Raining at the Range !!
It has not rained all night. Just looks a litle overcast at this time.

Longshot, Rod and Scott have been looking forward to having another crack at beating you for a month now. Don't dissapoint them.

The 500 yard Firing Point Berm is starting to grass over, as you will see when you get to the range today. For those not up to date. We added close to 18" of elevation to that berm and recontoured it with good dirt. Then seeded and mulched it. It is going to look much better.

Re: Missouri BIG PINEY Multi Range F Class 16 May

Well the first relay made it to the 600 yard Firing Point Berm before the rain came. We did not shoot from the 700 and 800 yard firing points. After an hour or so the rain quit, and we shot the second relay.

Re: Missouri BIG PINEY Multi Range F Class 16 May

We saw some very good shooting today, especially Jeff, who only dropped two points. The second relay had excellent shooting conditions. No rain, absolutely no wind, and it was overcast.

Re: Missouri BIG PINEY Multi Range F Class 16 May

The weather hasn't been very kind to your F-class and tactical shoots this spring has it? I shot a couple times last fall. I'd like to come down again sometime but was leery of driving about 270 miles round trip to lay in the mud and get rained on. Looks like weather was better than I expected. Hope to make it out again in the future.

Re: Missouri BIG PINEY Multi Range F Class 16 M

Yeah the weather has sucked for sure. The lightening prevented us from shooting past 600 but until 600 we were dry. The best thing about sunday weather wise was virtually zero wind. I never adjusted and I was using a 223

Re: Missouri BIG PINEY Multi Range F Class 16 M

The May 16th shoot had an amazing turnout despite the hour long tsunami we experianced.

The new backer boards were a lifesaver.

We will be advertising an add-on F-class event for August,
This will be a money shoot. Prize money for first, second, third and fourth place. plus prize drawings.
We are hoping this will become One of our main summer events.
to be announced soon.

Re: Missouri BIG PINEY Multi Range F Class 16 M

Wheelchairman We had 3 in Lite Tactical. Your score of 302-3X was pretty fair shooting. I am sure your score's will come up more as you get more experiance with your new rifle.

SP260 you did some very good shooting again. Jeff (Longshot) was really on his game as well as Rod (Vietvet). They are never really off their game from what I can tell.

If you notice the pretty Blue showing under the targets. That is foam board. On Saturday we decided after a week of rain during Shiper Class that the backer boards which are Black Fiber Board would probably wick water onto the paper targets. On the morning of the shoot the backer boards were dry. We still used the foam board, and a good thing we did. After the drowning the targets took, we would probably not have been able to have scored them under the pavilion without the foam board holding them flat.

The second relay went back to the 700 yard firing point berm and shot some steel for fun after we completed 600 yards.

My 221 Fireball Mouse Gun was shooting off to the Right again at the longer distances. Looks like I need a range day to see what is going on with it. Wind Drift, Spin Drift, Scope not 100% square with the world, Scope not adjusting straight up and down, or a combination of things.

MONEY SHOOT We are looking at holding an F Class Match on 1 August with a cash pay back. Check the web site for more information as we get the details worked out.

It's just my old .308 in an A5 that you've shot. It's nothing too special, but very forgiving of my horrible form.

What's the true test of good equipment? Making me look good!

Great shooting, especially given that it sounds like it was pretty crappy conditions. You definitely have that rifle's dope figured out by now. I've forced myself to stop tinkering with my loads so I can really get some good data and so I'm more competitive. Seems like every time I've come out to Big Piney I've had a different rifle/bbl length/suppressor/projo/powder load/etc.

Anyways, great shooting-

Shawn

Re: Missouri BIG PINEY Multi Range F Class 16 M

Yeah don't let him fool you, It was dialed in and he drove it good. The conditions were optimal as long as you shot the 600 before the rain. It was zero wind and very minimal mirage.
