MK 12

So i am about to be the new owner of a KAC MK12. I have been a lurker on the site for a while, but i wanted to come on now and check out some things
I just sent the check to another member and my MK12 should come in about a week

what do i need to know about this weapon to make it most effect to myself.
I will be shooting 0-650m
what kind of ammo? 77 gr is best i am hearing from friends
what are some things that i need to know about my new weapon

I am super excited as you can tell

Join the online training and start practicing. Dry fire, dry fire, oh and then dry fire some more.

ok cool i will look into that thanks, I know people consider .308 to be the premier round for precision work. However, will hte 556 be capable of 650 yd hits on a regular basis?

Your rifle will be quite capable of reaching out to 650 yards with MK262 ammo. South West Ammo sells it at a great price if you don't reload. With a quality rig and ammo the greatest variable will be the shooter. KYS338 made a good suggestion by promoting the online training. I don't know what your shooting experience is but I have shot all my life and when I took up long range shooting I realized how little I actually knew. It's a complicated matter and quality training and lots of practice will will go a long way. Good luck and welcome.

Yes. 24 grains of varget and a 75-77 grain bullet loaded to mag length should get you started.

Congrats! The Mk262 in the commercial red box marked 5.56mm from Black Hills is all I run through my Mk12 build.

I bought a few cases through Ammunition To Go but their stock is sporadic. Not sure who carries the stuff now. I too would be interested in more sources.

yea i dont think they have any as of this minute, i had the card ready to order one

quick question for anyone willing to answer

I am going to take off the ops collar and brake i think bc i have a gemtech 556 suppressor. This will not have a negative effect on the rifle at all right?

Congrats! Great way to jump in. I'll be trying the same setup out to 800 and from other accounts and ballistic data, all should work well.

thanks for all the replies guys, still have not gotten the weapon but when i do i will do a report and what not

I have some m855 that ill shoot since i cant find any of the good stuff for now
