mk II torque

Re: mk II torque

I don't have a Savage, but a laminate stock Remington model Five. I experimented a little and settled on 50 inch-pounds for the action screw. On mine there is a second screw back near the trigger, I keep it at 40 inch-pounds. If your stock is the plastic injection molded type I would think 50 or 60 would be too much.

I took the torque wrench to the range, and shot 5-shot groups while making adjustments between groups. I used good quality consistent ammo that had shot well at an unknown torque.

Yours may shoot well at any numer of settings, but zero may shift. The main advantage to using a set number would be for consistency of zero after taking the rifle apart and re-assembling.
