I have never looked through the new mlr2 reticle by nightforce. My wife has a night force npr1 on her 260 and to my eye the crosshairs seems to be tough for me to see like they are too thin, and to me the MLR reticle looks like a thin crosshair too. Has anyone compared the MLR and the mlr2 reticle, the mlr2 reticle looks thicker but I have only seen them on the computer and I planned on getting the MLR2 reticle.

Re: MLR vs MLR 2 reticle

I have had all three reticles in several different power ranges.
My opinion is the MLR 2.0 is a bold reticle that works great for lowlight and for hunting. I have been playing with the MLR 2.0 for a while and it is hands down my favorite reticle ( followed by theMLR and the NPR1when it is in in the 5-22 ).

The MLR is a little fine for my taste but still works well.

The NPR1 is way to fine in the 3-15 but works very well in the 5-22.

*there are two versions of the MLR-2,the current and in my opinion better version is the MLR2.0.

This is 2000 yards and it worked very well despite being 15x.( crappypic was taken at around 10x)

Re: MLR vs MLR 2 reticle

The MLR is a second focal plane reticle while the MLR 2.0 is a first focal plane reticle.

The line thickness is better with the MLR vs the NP-R1. The new MOAR reticle has a much more field friendly line thickness than the NP-R1 as well. The MLR is a Mil based reticle while the NP-R1 and MOAR are MOA based reticles.

For front focal plane designs, the MLR2.0 and NP-RF1 are both very nice in regards to line thickness, but they are different animals vs. the MLR/NP-F1/MOAR.

Wrong. The original MLR is in the F1s as well. I have a couple of them. That said the MLR2 is a much better reticle.

Re: MLR vs MLR 2 reticle

Thanks fo everyone for the help on the mlr 2.0 reticle. I really appreciate the picture that was put up. I plan on using this scope for hunting and target shooting during the summer. What causes the npr1 reticle to be finer in the 3-15 versus the 5-22?

Re: MLR vs MLR 2 reticle

My guess is that since the NPR-1 is such fine graduations and line thickness it is diffucult to pick up in a 3-15. The 5-22's extra mag makes the fine graduations and thin crosshair seem a little bigger.

In my opinion they should have made the crosshairs a little bit thicker when they put the Npr1 in the 3-15.it works great for shooting paper targets, but disapears in brush. and lowlight. My 5-22 worked satisfactory in brush and lowlight, but the 3-15 was horrible. The newer 3-15 reticles seem to be a huge improvement.

Another MLR 2.0 pic for you...

But for his purposes, unless he finds a used one good luck finding a plain MLR in a FFP scope.

Re: MLR vs MLR 2 reticle

That's where I had the problem with the npr1 was in low light and in tree lines. Thanks for another pic of the mlr 2.0 that reticle ia sweet, I'm going to buy one once I sell my premier, and then going to get another one after I sell the npr1 on my wife's gun. Does anyone have a f1 in MLR 2.0 for sale.
