Well, I have never shot at a range past 100 yards, but I got bite by the bug to shoot 1,000 yards. So I've been doing some reading on here and the 6.5 Creedmoor forum and went and purchased an RPR. I actually know pretty much nothing about long range shooting. I know the basic concepts of reloading, but my dad reloads and I already got him talked into helping me out. I've been researching some reloading data that people have listed on here to get my started.

I went and bought the Bushnell laser range finder that connects to the Kestrel Sportsman Elite tonight as I got a killer deal on it.
I used a 4-16 Monarch 3 as a scope on my RPR the next morning to just play around at the range and didnt like it at all. I think mostly due tot he scope rings being way to tall so it created poor sight picture. But I bought a Bushnell Trophy Xtreme 6-24 50 tonight to hold me over until I can buy a vortex or a NF once I get through Christmas.

Looking forward to catching up with some of you.

Welcome. That RPR in 6.5 Creed will get you to 1k no problems. Do you have access to a chrono?

If not that needs to be something you should try and get a hold of.

With your Kestrel set everything up correctly and enter your velocity. Then get your dope and shoot.

I️ use that combo and frequently make first round hits out past 1k pretty easy.

Start hoarding all of the H4350 you can find (if you can) and pick a 140-147 grain bullet.

Thanks for the info! I actually dont have access to a chrono. I was trying to see if there was a decent chrono at a decent price that I could either buy used or new. I see the Labradar is about 450. I havent really looked into any others. Didnt really want to spend $450 either hehe.

I have begun my search for H4350, no one around here has it right now. But I'll keep looking. About to drive two hours away for opening morning of deer season and there is a pretty decent size gun store there so I was going to see if they had any.
