I just received my Savage 110 BA in 300 Win Mag and have a Night Force NXS 3.5-15x50 with a BORS unit. Now I need to get the Barrett rings to mount it all. I am not understanding the moa terms that are stated when buying rails, rings etc. Can someone explain how this works. I know it has to do with the amount of adjustment in the retical so you can reach out to 1000 yards and beyond. Am I going to need the Barrett adjustabel moa rings? I have been shooting all my life but not at the yardage this rifle is capable of. Thank you for any assistance.

Re: MOA concerning rings and rails.

If you have a Scope with 100 MOA of total Elevation adjustment...

And you have a "Perfect" Rifle

Mounted on a Zero MOA base, you would have 50 MOA of elevation.

Mounted on a 30 MOA Base you would have 80 MOA of elevation.

Keep in mind that scopes work best the closer to Optical center they are... Choose a base that will get you the adjustment you need, and keep the reticle as close to center as you can in your "Normal" shooting distances.

Re: MOA concerning rings and rails.

Sorry for the long time in getting back. So I am begining to understand the moa thing with rings and rails. Now does anyone know if my Savage 110BA has a zero rail or built in MOA? I hate to be so ignorant about such things but I am learning. As I said I have been shooting all my life but never at such long ranges with presision gear. I grew up with good old Kentucky windage etc. To date my longest kill was 410 measured yards on a NY woodchuck with a Sako L461 in .222 Rem. I did that when I was a senior in high school in New York state.
Again thanks for any info anyone can share

Re: MOA concerning rings and rails.

Thank you for the info. I agree that the rail is big clunky and clanks. The rifle is that way also. I could not afford a big clunky Barrett so the Savage was my choice. These rifles are putting out some pretty impressive targets for the price paid. I think it was either the Rifleman or Guns & Ammo that did an accuracy test on the Savage and it actually out preformed the Sako that they were using. With the Savage long range rifle team, it was amazing the results. I bought it for fun. Thanks again for the info.
