i want to get a moa moa npr2 reticle from nightforce... is this the best one for long range shooting and a quick follow up shot at a different range... reticles and moa moa and mil mil have always confused me

Either will work. MIL/MIL is more ubiquitous, and is a known standard. MOA/MOA type hashs/lines/dots or measurements, seem vary greatly between makers, in other words no standards.
Also nobody is currently making a spotting scope or binoc's with a MOA reticle, except maybe USO (for a spotting scope). So if you are using a spotter with a reticle, they will be talking in MILS, not MOA.
Lastly, most MOA reticles and adjustments are not true MOA, they are really IPHY, which is almost but not the quite the same thing. Again lack of standards, and loose language could bite you in the butt. However, a MIL is always a MIL.
But like I said when I started, either will work.

I have done both now.
Use to run 4 NXS 3-15 NPR1s.
Now I run Premier PH 5-25x
Short and sweet.
Tac style matches or shooting Mil/Mil is quicker and simple once you get the hang of it. Took me only a few range sessions to get comfortable with Mil Mil after using MOA MOA for years.
F-Class Style shooting - MOA/MOA for finer adjustments and tuning.
I have done both now.
Use to run 4 NXS 3-15 NPR1s.
Now I run Premier PH 5-25x
Short and sweet.

The NP-R2 reticle is nice, but the NP-R1 is much better (I have both) if you go all MOA (turrets and reticles). If you prefer mils, the MLR reticle is awesome with mil turrets. Either system will work fine for you. I prefer the MOA system since it is a slightly finer adjustment. But it is totally personal preference. You see both MOA vs. mils about 50/50 in competitions. Whichever way you go, just get your turrets to match your reticle.

How is MOA not easy to get accustomed with? I belive that any shooter should know both Mils and MOA.
I belive MOA is better for ranging, but Mils are universal, therfore IMHO better. As said before most "tactical" scopes comes with a Mil instead of a MOA reticle.

Yup, know which reticle you have if you have MOA (is it IPHY or MOA?), but as long as your reticle and turrets match you are ahead of the curve.
I was a big proponent of the IPHY/IPHY setup, but have decided to go mil/mil. My experience mirrors Vu's (except I had USO's not NF) and finally decided that mil/mil is more universal, therefore easier to get along with with other shooters doing what we do.

Yup, know which reticle you have if you have MOA (is it IPHY or MOA?), but as long as your reticle and turrets match you are ahead of the curve.
