Hi, Im looking at getting a FFP scope for PRS matches. My first match I used a NF NXS 5.5-22 with a MOAR reticle. I did pretty well considering it was SFP but definitely see the benefit of FFP. I really like Nightforce scopes but they don't offer a MOA reticle with Christmas tree style holdover reticle. As far as I can tell the only scope out there with a true hold over reticle in MOA is the Vortex. I typically dial my elevation but would like to be able to hold-over.

For those of you that compete in PRS style matches do you feel that not having a hold over type reticle such as a NF Moar would put me at a disadvantage? Also if anyone has any other suggestions of a manufacturer that offer hold over reticle in MOA would be great.

Thanks

I think Nightforce just released a new reticle for 2019 that has the xmastree style reticle....but alas it is MiL. Maybe peek at the Athlon Cronus or Ares?

MOA is not allowed in PRS matches, new rule for 2019.

A lot of PRS folk are going for #1 German reticle these days, but #4 German is getting popular too.

I suggest getting MIL scope so you can communicate with other shooters, namely wind calls. Most shoot MIL and it's super easy to switch to, did same when I got into PRS last year. Talking moa at PRS match is not going to make very fruitful dialogue.

For reticles, dialing vs holding will dictate much, most folks have a strong preference, some do both. I started holding more this past year and dial a stage a match on average.

Bushnell H59 is my choice for holding, 0.2 subtensions are most valuable. If dialing more, the G3 reticle from Bushnell is the deal, clean and simple. Both have their place and I own a few of each in XRS2 and DMR2/HDMR2's.

Will address one misconception about H59. Folks say it's too busy, most always folks that don't actually own it. The images online are zoomed out 5-8x or so. Zoom in to 15-18x where many are at during a match, the H59 is totally different looking.

For newer PRS shooter, a DMR2 (G3 reticle) or HDMR2 (H59) are fantastic options. Both are Rock solid optics with proven records of tracking well. And they are priced very competitively also. I own two XRS2's and still use my DMR/HDMR's quite often.
