Hey guys, I'm contemplating a mobile reloading set up, something where I can throw powder and press bullets into pre-primed/preped brass. Do any of you do any mobile reloading and if so what is your set up like? Any pics?

I have a rock chucker, 5-0-5, and a chargemaster 1500 as well as the usual stuff.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Mobile reloading set-up

I have one that I use. It was originally a bench grinder stand that I topped w/ a butcher block type cutting board (12" x 18" or so) I mount all my presses to steel plates so I added T-Nuts to the butcher block so that I can just bolt down the press plate. It works well and is very stable but it is a PITA to bolt the legs on and off if it is totally disassembled for transport.

Your Charge Master wont work well on that set up especially if outside. You would be better off w/ a regular powder thrower and a beam scale in a 5 sided box.

Don't have pics of it set up at the moment, it's broken down for the next trip out.

Cheers,

Doc

Re: Mobile reloading set-up

I have a bunch of stuff I used to use at the ranges when I was shooting competition. I carry all the little things in a Craftsman 3 drawer tool box and the press and other larger stuff in a big yellow tool box. C-Clamps big enough to fasten everything down. My Harrell's powder measure fits to a piece I made that clamps to the corner of the tool box. And I use a LEE auto-prime.

It takes up most of the room behind the back seat of the Tahoe if you throw in the chronograph and cleaning kits.

Doc, thanks for the description. I think that may be what I'm heading towards, something where all the press and thrower are all permanent mounted to a table top and then just removing the table top makes it mobile. What about using the Chargemaster inside my truck, provided is was level warmed up?

That's a good idea too. I guess it wouldn't be that hard to unbolt the press from my existing table every time I want to do this type of load development. C-clamps would be a good option. It would only be two bolts and I would take prepped and primed brass with me so all I would really need is the press and my scale. Thanks!
