model 110ba 338 lapua best recipe?

Re: model 110ba 338 lapua best recipe?

Well if you find one yourself, make sure to post it up, should be ordering mine soon. Really hoping to be able to shoot the Berger hybrids, but not sure if I want to give up magazine feeding to make them work. May just have to go with Scenars.

Not a 110ba, but mine runs well at a bit under 2800 fps. Probably can go a lil faster, but haven't really seen a need to since I am happy with the accuracy.

87.5gn reloader 25 and 300 smk from a 29in barrel.
Don't remember the coal off the top of my head though.

Re: model 110ba 338 lapua best recipe?

I'm working up a retumbo w/300SMK load right now using OCW method, first test with 85,87,89,90,91,92,93g showed best results (0.3 MOA) at 90, pressure signs (firing pin impression and extractor marks) starting at 92, and apparent at 93 (didn't shoot the 94's). I've loaded a 8 step span between 89-91gr to test tomorrow, I'll post more after that. All were loaded 0.020" off the lands. After this test I'm going to pick the three best steps and load a 3x3x3 of 0.01", 0.02", 0.03" off lands with three powder steps and use those results for the final refinement, and comparison with lapua brass (the above was with hornady brass, once fired)

As for COAL, I don't have my book, but I mic all of them to a distance to lands, as the magazine for the 110BA will support an overall length beyond just about anything you would want to load, and I prefer the distance to lands measurement for consistency.

Next up is 4831sc w/300SMK, followed by VV N165 w/ 300 scenar.

Thanks, trying to determine if the Berger Hybrids will mag feed and still shoot good.

Re: model 110ba 338 lapua best recipe?

Okay, my rounds are 3.707" COAL for a 0.020" jump and mag feed.
The dummies I just loaded were 3.726 and 3.746" COAL. The 3.726 fit easily, the 3.746 scraped just a hair, and subsequent measurement (using strips of paper) revealed about 0.017" tip clearance on the 3.726". I would then say that 3.730-3.740" COAL is the effective max for my magazine, though yours may differ.
