Re: Model of 1917 rebuild
Look for stocks for the 1917 Enfield. I know that Richard's Microfit inlets for that action; MPI makes a fiberglass stock for it. You need to determine if you have the original 'fish-belly' configuration stock, or if your floorplate has been straightened. Stock inletting is different for each.
Originally that action was made as cocks-on-closing, rather than cocks-on-opening like 99% of other bolt guns. There was at least one conversion to cocks-on-opening offered, so if yours does, it's been converted. Timney should still offer a trigger for it.
The kicker will be scope mounts; typically the receiver was contoured to match either a Remington Model 30 (a factory sporter version of the 1917) or Remington M720 (the last version of the factroy sporter). About the only people who still make scope mounts for either action is Weaver. Some later conversions were done to match the Rem 700, so you should be able to use a 2-piece Remington base if you have one of them. Alternately, the receiver bridge was milled flat. You may well need to have a one-off scope mount made up to match hole spacing if you want a one-peice, especially a 20 MOA mount.
