MonoPod Height w/ PRS Stock?

Re: MonoPod Height w/ PRS Stock?

For reference to pod heights:

What size front bi-pod are you running? I run a 9"-13" bipod and have found a BT13-QK works best for most of my applications (bench and field). If you primarily run a 6"-9" bipod I'd give strong consideration to the BT12-QK. However even if you run a 6"-9" bipod but you prefer to run it unlocked as LoneWolf demonstrates in this great video:

<object width="425" height="350"> <param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/1iSKTcDEDQE&hd=1"></param> <param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/1iSKTcDEDQE&hd=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"> </embed></object>

You might want the BT13-QK or possibly even the BT31-QK. Personally I'd error on the long side of the equation. If it's too long locked-out you can always go lower by unlocking and using it canted like the video. If it's too short you can always lock-out then grip-down on it to extend it's length.

You're just going to have to get behind the gun in several of your typical shooting positions and take some measurements. Most likely though you will settle with the BT13 or BT12.

My rifle with BT13-QK and 9"-13" bipod. Note that the rifle is almost perfectly level with the monopod set at it's shortest height.

Thanks I saw that video and like the idea of gripping the monopod at an angle in lieu of a rear bag. I typically use a 9-13" Harris bipod but plan to upgrade to an atlas in the near future.

03, Not exactly the same gun but on my AR-15 I put the BT-12QK on my Magpul PRS. I use the shorter 6-9 harris though. One thing for sure to look at if you are getting a accu-shot is the metal cap for the base. I think it is an option you have to add. I use it on all surfaces with great performance.

I believe you mean this:

Another option to consider are replacement cane tips:

03 if you plan on doing the canted grip with the 9"-13" the BT13 or BT31 would likely be best. However if you are switching over to an Atlas, which has a maximum extension of 10" and a minimum of 4", the BT12 or BT13 would work. The BT13 will likely work for both bipod setups, but may not be the optimum for either...tough call. Lastly don't forget to consider mag to ground clearance with the 20 round mag as they hang about an inch lower than the grip.
