Good Morning Hide

I got out yesterday to do a little shooting and to see how my DD does with different types of ammo. I posted a different thread using 69 grain BTHP about a month ago at ranges of 50 and 100 yards.

Yesterday though, I was just shooting at 50 yards. Here are pictures of the results with the type of ammo with grain written. Since my last thread I have in installed a 3.5 lb CMC single stage trigger.

What do you all think? This is my home defense rifle. On it I have an Eotech 518-2 with a G33 magnifier. Im still waiting to get some 77 grain ammo to try out just to see what this gun can do at 50 and 100 yards, and farther out.

Thank you

Goat

The groups look fine for the ammunition used. How are you measuring those groups though? That first one with 62 gr pmc xtac looks closer to 3/4" with all three rounds being in the square. The first one with 55gr pmc bronze looks closer to 1 1/4".

Either way the rifle seems to be doing fine.

Like a dumbass I just replied to your older thread.

In short, I use a DDM4V7 with EOTech XPS2 as my HD rifle. It is 2 MOA with Speer Gold Dots (55 and the older 64gr), Winchester PDX-1, Federal T556TNB1, and one other that I can't think off the top of my head as I went with the Gold Dots. I shot off of a rest, fired a 10 round group, and did not use a magnifier when I was doing my testing.

You're fine. The rifle is fine. Anything that doesn't shotgun pattern with PMC is fine.

I suspect you'll even be better with other ammunition.

Your groups are fine. You won’t be shooting from a rest if you had to use that thing for home defense. Make sure to shoot this rifle much more off hand than using a rest. Getting better at this skill will serve you much more than getting better shooting a slightly tighter group off a rest with a rear bag.

For example, with proper instruction a 10 year old that never shot a gun in his life can hit targets at 750 yards with a properly setup rifle bagged up within a shot or two. Many experienced shooters who only rest a gun when shooting can’t hit a 10” plate at 100 yards free handed.

They're fine.

Assuming you shot at the targets with the writing facing the right way, your rear bag manipulation and/or loading the bipod before getting it settled on the rear bag will help you even more.

Dude, its fine. No need for more testing. Pick your ammo, zero to your preferences, then get off the bench and shoot.
