Interesting how they plan to handle it. Sure they threw the egg, but the other guy started the pursuit. Whether or not he brandished a firearm, he did show road rage and could have spooked the 14yo who knew he fucked up (and shouldn't have been driving either, so probably a stolen or "borrowed" car, all just upping the ante). I'm sure neither thought they'd get in an accident. If the guy pulled his piece and there's a witness, then his ass needs to be brought into all this too. Both of them are guilty IMO for causing an accident that didn't need to happen.
I've had a couple instances where someone with road rage tried to follow me. I'm armed, but I'd rather not get into that if I don't have to, and I'm not leading 'em home or the neighborhood either. In the past when I was younger and knew the roads well, I had a million places to lose someone, get 'em stuck and leave. Once on I5 a guy kept pulling in front of me and slamming his brakes. I passed him and he started chasing me! I left his ass. Eventually, after he'd woven through traffic to catch up to me, he THEN turned on his lights. I had no idea he was a cop before that moment. He was a jail cop in a white van, no markings, no lights, no radar, no camera, no witness, no training for traffic. And he was a dickhead. He charged ME with reckless driving! I beat him in court of course, but I had to bother with it. Still, the fact remained had he not chased me, I'd never have ran off. And if he didn't like whatever it was I was doing when he kept slamming his brakes (it wasn't tailgating) he could have hit is lights right away and I'd have pulled over and we could have talked about it.
This is just another incident of people doing the wrong thing and making the wrong choices afterwards. Only this one had a bad ending.
It's better to get their license plate and deal with it that way. A lot of police dept.'s have even stopped high speed chases. They do more harm than good.
