Does anyone one track data for more than one rifle in only one book?

Is it hard to keep track of?
Would you recommend it?
Am I just being too cheap?

I do like to have all my info in one place.

Re: More than one Rifle in only one Data Book

If you're going with a modular data book I don't see why you couldn't have all your information in one book as long as you kept information between rifles divided. If you're using something like a rite in the rain notebook or similar I think it'd be best to just have multiples.

The consensus will probably be to have a separate book for each rifle, but if you think you can keep your info straight with one book, go for it.

Re: More than one Rifle in only one Data Book

If you have to do it, start rifle #2 in the middle of the book and tab that page. If you mix up two rifles in the same pages, it makes it very difficult to find specific data when you're looking for it.

Re: More than one Rifle in only one Data Book

You can easily do it with one book just get some page separators and section the book off.

The other thing to consider is how much do you shoot both rifles? If you shoot alot and you will go thru alot of pages then 2 books will be your best bet.

If you dont shoot alot or shoot one rifle half as much as the other one book can be made to work.

Its all upon your shooting and collecting style!

Either way we are here for you if we can assist you in anything please let us know.

Re: More than one Rifle in only one Data Book

I keep all my come-up charts, milholds, wind and mil value cheat cards in one book. I also keep a few range/target cards in there.

I use a modified ticket logbook olden days cops used. come up cards with a wind chart is bungied to the flip divider. Target pages in the clip with cheat sheets and used target/range cards in the written ticket holder.

Exterior pocket holds Mildot Master, calculator, pens and pencils. having a breast pocket sized notebook is handy dandy a lot of the time.

Each rifle then has a master target file with a round count log that gets updated soon after a training session.

So one book for the field and one each at home.

Re: More than one Rifle in only one Data Book

I was thinking setup a book this way:

Tables in front.
TAB
Rifle 1 / Scope 1 info.
Data Pages
TAB
Rifle 2 / Scope 2 info.
Data Pages
TAB
BLANK PAGES

I would grab a blank page as needed from the back and place it with each rifle as need.
I would of course have round counts and all other info in each section. I just over simplified the above to make it easy to follow.

Re: More than one Rifle in only one Data Book

Thats doable!!

Worse case it doesnt work as planned and you modify it to work.

NOMAD,
What indices do you have in your pre-made books that would pertain to a specific rifle?
Since I have your pre-made books, which would I need to add for a second rifle?

I would have messaged you, but I thought it might help out someone one looking at this thread in the future.

I was actually thinking the same thing. Thanks for posing the question straight to the man that'll know.

Re: More than one Rifle in only one Data Book

Thats how I did mine using Impacts modular pages. I use their plastic separators and label each one on its tab; separator, 7mm comes ups, separator, 7mm CB pages, separator, 7mm round count, separator, etc., and do the same with my .308. Easy to find what I need and use. Impacts pages are nice as well. They have hundreds of pages to customize as needed. Just need to find a binder now, Impacts was too thick for my cover.

Re: More than one Rifle in only one Data Book

Good question and this has now lead me to make a solution and fix to a problem shooters like you guys may have!

The pages that most shooters to include myself would want and need to compartment off and allow a book to use for two guns would be:

Weapons Information page

WeaponInfo.jpg

Weapons Cleaning Page

WeaponCleaning.jpg

Page Separators
PS-2.jpg

I-RC
I-RC-2.jpg

I-CUS
I-CUS-2.jpg

So with that we have went ahead and created a new product that we will start offering and call it the “Single Book Multiple Gun Kit”
This Kit will include a new page that we will have made that will have your weapons Information on one side and the weapons cleaning information on the back

1. Weapons Information and Cleaning page
2. 1 set of Round Count Pages
3. 1 set of Come Up Pages
4. 1 set of page Separators

Price $13.95 for Standard Size 80 weight paper
Standard RNR and pocket size up pricing as per our other options will apply.

It will be a week or so before I will have the complete kits available but in the mean time you can order the pages and the separators individually. I will send anyone who orders the other stuff a free weapons information/cleaning sheet when they come in. Please leave me a not in your order comments box reminding me.

Re: More than one Rifle in only one Data Book

Im liking the weapons info page. You could add a scope base/moa box and maybe partition off the base/rings/BM to add torque specs??? I'd love to be able to use those suppressor boxes. F&*king Kalifornia

Re: More than one Rifle in only one Data Book

I do that with my bolt and semi-auto in the same caliber. One half is for one gun, and flip it over and the other side is for the other gun. With a modular databook and a middle divider, I think this works well for me. Just keep them seperated within the book and be clear about which rifle.

Re: More than one Rifle in only one Data Book

I have two very large shipments coming in from the printer. The first one will be here by Saturday.

The next one is due 7-10 after that. I am pretty sure the new Single Book Multiple Gun Kits will be ready on that second batch so stay tuned.

Re: More than one Rifle in only one Data Book

Let me throw out a semi-related question. I'm getting a rifle re-barreled. Chances are, being a shorter barrel, the ballistics are not going to be the same.

Do I start a new book? Section off the old data?

I know I need to start new with the round count pages and so forth. But is there even any value to keeping the old data in the book for the new rifle?

Thanks,
Steve

Re: More than one Rifle in only one Data Book

Your rifle data will have changed.

That's the beauty of having a true modular data book like we offer. You can easily remove the old data and with a few small changes have your book ready and be back to work without creating a total mess with your book.

You then can save the old stuff and refer back to it if you ever have to.

Re: More than one Rifle in only one Data Book

I have a related question NOMAD.

Is it possible to have that new "Weapons Information and Cleaning page" offered as a index set?

I tend to change scopes, stocks, rifle info and cleaning procedures a lot, and it would be nice to have a completely new page to reference the changes. I would love to have extra pages of these.
