Hey guys I am getting ready to thread the barrel on my Remmy 700 308. Wanted to see which break you guys feel reduces recoil and muzzle jump best. looks aren't quite as important as function to me.

The Armalite break is the best I have ever used. My 338lm has a metal buttpad.

+1 for the APA Fat Bastard. I've got one on my 300WM and love it. It has less recoil than a 308 without a brake.

+1 for the Badger FTE... No loss of target at full power, and it looks pretty sweet. Even tells you which end to point where

Thanks guys. I shot a RWS (Ross) made in in Idaho, not Iowa. And it was crazy effective. So I ordered one up. Only 40 bucks too, and he machines it down so it will flow right into your barrel width. Therefore giving the impression it is part of the barrel. I really like it and think I will be very happy with it.

When I purchased my GAP-10 I wanted a break that would have a seamless look on the barrel. GAP made that happen with the Badger Thruster. The gun shoots like a 243. The FTE is supposed to create a more diminutive recoil impulse but seemed to be too big for the look I wanted to end up with. A lot of the buyers were purchasing the Titan break also. Ken told me that both breaks were fairly equal in their effectiveness so I picked the Badger. I have been very happy with the results...

Anyone have the badger fte on 300wm. I having one put on my 5r now. Just curious as to how effective it will be. Will it work well enough to keep target in view

I have a few FTE brakes & all are effective. That is all i use these days. My friend has one on his 30-06 & with my bad shoulder i can shoot his rifle now, feels like a 243 in my opinion.
One brake that has worked well for me in the past was one built by Williams gunsight, guide series brake. I installed one on a TC Icon in 308 skinny barrel, worked extremely well. You would probably want their "Sniper brake" which doesn't have holes all the way around it so you can shoot prone. http://www.williamsgunsight.com/gunsmith_service_michigan.htm

I have been using a RAD brake on my 300 win mag. It does a great job. Im very happy with it.

I use a AAC breakout on my aac-sd. Could not imagine needing more than that IMO. But... thats just me...
