Guys,
A long overdue plug for one of those "why didn't I think of that" ideas. Brock M (Mountain Shooter on the 'Hide) has come up with the easiest sling setup I have ever used.
The F/N bolt guns used at the fall ASC match were all wearing Brock's slings, and over the 3 day match you couldn't help but fall in love w the simple design and use of these slings.
Below are a couple pics of the set up and use.

Brock quoted me $55 for Talon swivels and $65 for flush cups, avail in OD, coyote and black. If you don't have these on your rifles you should, no more velcro and snap BS, when you need it it's there, when you don't it's gone.

AND...they are made right here in West-by-God Virginia!!

I have not picked one of these up yet because I have a full compliment of TAB and TIS slings laying about that currently fulfill my needs just fine, but I have talked to others and from the rave reviews...I am going to have to try one of these in the near future.

Do you know if Brock offers (or is planning to offer) his slings with HK/AI snap hooks?

Re: Mountain Shooter Slings HUGE +1 !!!!

Dosent look bad at all, I am in the market for a sling and was thinking of the TAB, but now... How do they feel when carring a rifle as a conventional sling? Bout like the rest I would imagine, just had to ask.

Re: Mountain Shooter Slings HUGE +1 !!!!

Steve, when the rifle is slung the loop is closed. I picked up one of these after the last ASC and have been real happy with it. It's a sling you can use on your hunting rifle as well as your tactical rifle. Not a whole lot of extra webbing, loops and snaps to snag on stuff. Mark

Re: Mountain Shooter Slings HUGE +1 !!!!

Is it advertising if I am only answering quistions about my Sling design and telling folks how to get in contact with me Via PM and not doing it openly over the hide. Yes. That's a backdoor vendor selling.

I did not start or have any thing to do with starting this thread. But you are benefiting from it. Let Seuss answer the questions until you become a vendor as he is the one who started the post.

I deleataed my avertising post with in mins. of putting it up after I looked at the Rules. I admitted I was wrong. I Have PMed Lowlight after I deleated my advertising Post. And also ask him about doing a product Review. Brock When you become a vendor you can put those back up. It's just the rules to protect our paying vendors.

Re: Mountain Shooter Slings HUGE +1 !!!!

without anything holding the sling from completely closing (which is just what happens if you put it over your shoulder for carrying) ... does the loop close that much that you notice less bloodflow to your hands? (the tickling sense in the fingers, for instance)

Re: Mountain Shooter Slings HUGE +1 !!!!

Hate to waste my 1000th post but....

I remove my arm from the sling loop when carrying. It closes for carry purposes.

As I said the beauty of Mountain Shooter concept is there are no velcro adjustments or snap attachments (attach = lost, broke or both) and when not used as a support the sling carries like a "normal" hunting style sling.

I like them. My $.02

Re: Mountain Shooter Slings HUGE +1 !!!!

Several shooters at our match this past weekend were using them, and several people went home with one after seeing them in use. I know of at least on person that cleaned one of our famed sitting position stages that was using one, and he commented that this was the only time he has ever cleaned this stage. Good job Ian. Positions take lots of practice regardless of what you use. Brock

Re: Mountain Shooter Slings HUGE +1 !!!!

Brock's slings are great, extremely simple and easy to get into and out of. The sewn stop in the sling to keep the loop from closing all the way was a welcomed improvement and I think it's a very nice touch to an already good sling. Cleaning Dance the Lindy was a highlight of the match for me, in addition to several other stages, but it's one of those that in years past I always seemed to drop one off the edge or fall apart in some other way. I practiced quite a bit between the FN match and this one using the Mountain Shooter Sling and, as with any sling, it is something that takes a lot of practice to find how I could tune my NPA and which positions worked for different situations. Call it a fluke or perfect conditions but I passed up a nice TIS sling on the table because I just didn't think it would perform any better for me. It was kind of surprising to see the number of $80 carry straps that were on the mountain.

That is the way it works - straight out of USMC training from Parris Island. Using the web sling in this fashion is by far THE BEST field way to use the slinged rifle without wearing a shooting coat or having a hook to hold the sling up.

You get the choice of doing it this way and having it stay in place or doing it some other way and it not staying in place.

I love it - and need to get one.

Re: Mountain Shooter Slings HUGE +1 !!!!

the first time I had even ever heard of these was at the FNH ASC last fall, all rifles came equipped with one, and of course there was some off hand shooting. I went home with one. Simple, effective, and bullet proof.

Re: Mountain Shooter Slings HUGE +1 !!!!

I've been running a Mountain Shooter sling on the .308 since right after Brock started offing them, and have a Quick Cuff on the .260. I think they're both about perfect for what I use the different rifles for. The QC is quick to get into in a match, and Brocks sling works great on a practical rifle.

Re: Mountain Shooter Slings HUGE +1 !!!!

Can someone provide his contact number in PM to me. I sent him a PM about wanting one of his slings for my Sako TRG.

Re: Mountain Shooter Slings HUGE +1 !!!!

Brock you should consider setting up a page that allows CC and PPal to make ordering easy or get set up so you can send a PPal invoice to buyers. I would have already gotten one if I could remember to send you a check.

Re: Mountain Shooter Slings HUGE +1 !!!!

You guys need to not only take, but keep your "sales" off the forum.

We have rules, which I have been nice about here, but you're going too far.

Companies pay for the privilege, and having someone else start the post to circumvent the rules isn't gonna fly. You know the rules, and I'll be branded the dick for having to enforce them. So if you're gonna make me be a jerk about it, I'm gonna make it worth the title.
