Anyone have any real experience with one? Not looking for"I shot 4 rounds at a match" or I saw Kyle at the cup. I would like to hear real life experiences as to quality and accuracy, how would it measure against a AI 338?

Nice didn't know Barrett had given out MRAD certs, thought it was just 98bravos.

Re: MRAD

Ya...I was in the market and decided on getting one. Had the wife watch the show with me....so I got the green light. There goes 6k flying out of the bank....

Re: MRAD

The nice thing about a Accuracy International, TRG, or a custom build is the ability to upgrade barrels, check and improve the alignment of the chamber versus the barrel. With a Barrett you get a field swap capable barrel that is one piece with the chamber and bolt lugs leaving the shooter with what ever level of accuracy that was machined into the setup.

Don't get me wrong they shoot very well, but there will be a time when you want more and this barrel setup which is designed to change in the field as one unit dosent allow you to screw on a higher end lapped barrel to a action as the other allow.

I do own and operate the Barrett 98B

Re: MRAD

One of my shooting buddies has one and I've had some trigger time on it. It's as good as my Savage 110BA and a little lighter. Trigger is nice and I'm now looking at moving to one platform and being able to barrel swap I was waiting on the MSR but that may never happen and he is very frustrated the Barrett isn't talking a re;ease date yet for other barrels and bolts.

another 2 shooting buddies have the DTA SRS and I'm not a fan of the look but it's really swaying me in the accuracy and ease of swap compared to some of the others I saw released at shot.

The MRAD is a great platform I just think it's way over priced

So wait...your saying Barrett doesn't use a barrel extension like the DTA? And that the Barrel/Extension is one piece that can never be reused?

If so....f that. Not worth it in my opinion.

I am not sure that it is over priced I am in the market for a .338 Lapua Mag and I have priced out custom builds and they are in the $7K area where I can pick up the MRAD for $5500.00. kind of confused.

Mine says MRAD on the cert and I have spoke with Kyle twice on it.

I guess my thinking is for a non custom gun compared to the DTA with the availability of a ton of calibers and a great shooting platform or the Savage 110BA or FCP or a Barrett 98B I find the MRAD overpriced in that they have no ETA on the barrels of bolts to change caliber. Just my .02

Re: MRAD

You could have a custom smith build you a .338 Lapua to your specs or less than 7K depending on your optic. However, if you have ever used the Bors system it is well worth the $1700+ if you got the cash...it kicks ass.
