well today i picked up where i left off in my msg90 log book, i loaded 30 rounds 15 of 110 siarra hp and 15 168 hornady match.

it broke down like this

5 in the low end of the reloading specturm
5 in the middle
5 loaded up tword the max

the distance was roughly 100 yds ( shootin in the back yard ) and i was laying prone this time, i shot 10 rounds of federal power shock to just make sure i was sighted in, and i shot with blackhawk solag gloves, the temps where at 33 degrees so not quite as fridged as yesterday

i moved the trigger shoe up just a bit and played with the adjustable butt and comb just to settle in a little bit more.

below are my results, i have some ways i think that will get me better results but befor i explain lets go down threw the targets and ill explain whats going on

first off we have our " see if its sighted in still " pink post squair as you can see five rounds in a rough 2 inche squair, so i clicked left 2 clicks and lets begin the test

below are the series of low medium and max loaded 110 sierra hp's

the lower being a rough 38 grains, and by roughly i mean i used powder scooper so it could be maybe 40 maybe 35 its hard to say.

the group was way off to the left yet 2 of them are almost dead center so i left the windage turret right where it was, not so sure the lower powder is the best for the 110

moving on to the rough 43 grains and 110 bullet it is high and left, i didnt adjust the turrets the rounds are as close as the 38 so iam not so sure how i feel about this eaither.

next is the rough 48 and 110 looks like its slightly tighter maybe if i work around this like slowing it up just a hair
IMG_0007-7.jpg

i feel about 90 percent of this all is human error, after 5 years of building this gun i find my self wanting to pull the trigger and see whats happining instead of slowing down takeing my time, and i think a little of it is from not being dead nutz sighted in with the federal power shock.

moving on to the 168

the 38 gr seem to do roughly ok dispite the top flyer iam sure it could be improved a great deal

here we see the rough 43 and out side of the two bottem flyers or pulls the 3 rounds are pretty close so this area could be the sweet spot
IMG_0003-9.jpg

on the higher end we see 4 holes iam not sure where the 5th flew to but i can say the recoil was pretty crazy and sticking to the middle of the the loading spectrum is most likely going to hail the greatest results. at the time of these loadings i didnt have a digital scale. since then i did buy one and i have some super accurate ( as far as powder measureing goes ) loads that i will try some time when the weather is warmer

180 ct rounds are on the list as well as 190 match kings and i just got 10 sample 175 match kings to try so this will be a vary eventfull ( iam hoping ).

in order to tighten this group i feel more trigger time is the best as well as changing shooting ranges and going to another i know where the bences sit lower for me.

out side of the trigger time and just relaxing and not worrieing about pulling the trigger so much i think iam on on the right path and i feel the groups will tighten up its just a matter of time you cant get better results if your not out their trying so

i hope you enjoy the write up, i saved all my brass so look forword to a write up on reloading hk brass

please leave feed back any help in testing or ways i can better my self shooting just any thing in general would be really cool

Re: msg90 range report # 3 pix

It looks like you are making progress. As I said before I don't know anything about reloading and I do hope to learn.

What has been suggested to me for breaking in my HK clones is to shoot about 100 rds to 200 rds of good quality surpluse like Port to make sure that the barrel has settled in and to do initial sighting as well as getting used to trigger pull, length of pull and check rest height adjustments. Then switch to match grade commercal ammo between 168gr and 175gr to fine tune sighting adjustments.

I think it might be best for you to try something along these lines to get a true idea of the base-line capablities of the rife as well as getting used to shooting it before trying differnt hand loads. Again this is just what was sugested to me it is not from first hand experince. I am sure others here know a ton about reloading.

button rifled

last december it threw the 110's sub moa at 100 but that was with a g3 trigger the msg90 trigger is so light and easy i find my self pulling alot now i just need to get used to the msg90 trigger and the stock and get used to taking my time and making it a one shot deal instead of thinking about shooting till iam out
