First off, I tried to read as much as I could on forums and using the search engine.

According to my research it appears that the Thunderbeast Suppressors are highly regarded. With that said, can I buy a suppressor that would work on multiple calibers?

I am about to order a Specialized Dynamics AR15 in a .223.
I plan on buying a .300 Blackout and a .264 LBC in the future and would love to be able to use the same suppressor on all calibers. Am I just dreaming or is this a possibility?

I also have a .30-06 bolt-action and I might as well ask if that is a possibility as well.

Thanks,
Thomas

Re: Multi-Caliber Suppressor?

the Thunderbeast 30P-1 will work on all those

edit to add... you'll just want 5/8x24 threads on the AR, so you won't need an adapter. the 300blk should come 5/8x24, the 264 can be threaded that easily, as can the 06

Re: Multi-Caliber Suppressor?

If this is your first suppressor you want to get the largest bore diameter you can afford. Some will ask why, well its simple, if something happens in your life where you will not be able to afford another suppressor its better to have one that will suppress the majority of your firearms versus getting one that will only suppress a couple of your firearms.

The Thunderbeast will work great on your 223 to your 30-06, and like the above statement says if you can get your AR threaded 5/8 X 24 it will be easier to put your suppressor on, most .223 AR are threaded 1/2 X 28.

Keep us updated!

Re: Multi-Caliber Suppressor?

The simple answer to your question is yes one suppressor can be used on multiple calibers.

There are compromises that have to be made...

A 7.62 suppressor may not be as efficient on a 5.56 rifle as a dedicated 5.56 suppressor.

Another thing to think about is the way the can will be mounted. On a precision rifle I would go with a simple thread on model to minimize POI shift. On an AR I would recommend a quick attach so that when the suppressor is removed there's still a break/flash suppressor. Cans are either thread or QA not both.

Weight and length come into play. On a rifle you shoot off a bench you may not mind additional weight that translates into reduced DBs, but the weight may be a problem on a carbine.

As far as 30-06 I'm not sure if there is a standard rating... my AWC thundertrap is rated for up to 300 win mag so it would handle a 30-06. You would have to check with the manufacturer specifically to make sure the model you are looking at will handle pressures associated with cartridges above the 7.62x51/308 win level.

I started out with the same idea of purchasing multi-use cans. I now find myself making purchases with a particular rifle/purpose in mind. Slippery slope!

The OSS Mission ( www.oss-online.com )new Gen 4 suppressors have modular replacable internals and you can have one suppressor with several different caliber internals. The only issue is that you have to do a seperate Form4/Tax Stamp for each set of internals. But, it does allow you to have one supprssor that will do multiple calibers properly.

Re: Multi-Caliber Suppressor?

I have a Thunderbeast 30P-1. Works great on all those.
I am Threading my AR to 1/2 X 28 So I can run a dedicated can on it when I get it. I will use a thread adapter and the 30p-1 on it till then.
I believe the TB page has a place they recommend for them.

If not.. like Zak said the 30BA will cover all your thread needs.

I have spent the last 2 days shooting my 30p-1 on a 22-250. Sounds like a pop gun.
