I have been undecided about putting a muzzle brake on my Bergara hmr 6.5 CM and was wondering if anyone has chosen a brake for their Bergara.

It's like new members don't even bother to read anymore. Crazy how many recent muzzle brake threads there are.
I realize that there are a significant number of posts regarding muzzle brakes however, I was specifically interested in knowing what brake(s) someone used on a Bergara HMR 6.5 CM.

Any of the newer designs would be very effective on such a light recoiling round even on a somewhat light rifle like the HMR.
APA, Insite Arms Heathen and Area 419 seem to be the favorites of the month.

I have the Masterpiece Arms brake on my Bergara B14 HMR in .300WM and it is very effective at recoil reduction. The rifle hardly kicks at all. Maybe equivalent to something like a .243 or less. I imagine the 6.5 mm brake will work just as well. Here is a link for you to review.

I really like the Precision Armaments EFAB. It’s not the most effective *brake*, but it still makes a notable difference, and has much lower concussion, both for me-the-shooter and my neighbors. Also it looks awesome.

Alright, let me ask the dumb question. Say I had a brake for a 6.5 creed. What would be the drawbacks, if any, of using it on a 6mm creed?

Per APA’s testing, a .308 brake was 1-3% less effective than a 6.5mm brake shooting 6.5 Creedmoor. I’d expect a similar loss of effectiveness for 6.5mm brake shooting 6mm, and ~5% overall loss of effectiveness using a .308 brake for 6mm.

I highly doubt you’d notice in either case.

I have a Bergara in 6.5 CM and I put the APA Lil Bastard on mine. 6.5 already has minimal recoil, but with that brake on there, I can spot my own shots. I really like it, and it's very easy to install. I didn't see a lot of shifting of my POI after I installed the brake, but I was switching to new ammo so was more focused on re-zeroing the rifle anyways.
