Muzzle Brake for SPS Tactical 223

So, I had asked for a muzzle brake for Christmas and the wrong one ended up getting ordered (mainly my fault). I want one for my SPS Tac in 223. The one that I received was the SureFire MB556 AR and it will not thread on as it is way to long.

Just to be sure, will this one thread on correctly? Surefire MB556K Muzzle Brake-Adapter AR-15 HK-416 1/2-28 Thread Steel

The SPS Tac has the heavier barrel....just want to be sure before I call Midway and see if I can exchange.

Well what threads do you have on your SPS?

It is 1/2 x 28.

The problem with the one I have currently is that it is too long. The end of the MB meetsmthe end of my barrel beforemit comes in contact before the threads. Want to make sure the other will work.

Doesn't the barrel have to be contoured down to fit the sure fire brakes?

I run an AAC brake on mine (with a AAC can) but nevertheless, it works great. I do the double chamber brake

I don't mean to seem rude, but what is prompting you to get a muzzle brake for a 223 bolt action? Perhaps that money would be better suited for another accessory if you need to return this.
