I have a Little Bastard on another gun and was thinking about a 419 to put on another gun. Some of the reviews that I saw on the 419 said they were loud,but there all loud to me. Is the 419 just terribly louder than all the rest?

I've shot both, alot, and I like the 419 better. I just put a Sidewinder on a 308 and it made a world of difference. I can spot impacts at 325 with ease where without a break it was very challenging.

I havent heard it specifically but hearing any brake absolutely kills me. As you said, they are all loud! I dont parse it beyond loud is loud

I put a Little Bastard on my R700 LR in 300wm and it has less recoil than my buddy's RPR in 308 does now. Hope that helps some.

I have 2 little bastard brakes, one on a 7 mag and one on a .260. to be honest, the recoil reduction is great, but they do zero to combat muzzle rise. I would also check out muzzlebrakesandmore.com he is a nice guy and is local to me here in Boise.

You can’t go wrong with either, you may want to look at PVA as well, they are a little cheaper and you give nothing up in performance or machining. I have all three and don’t have a favorite.

I’d go w/ the 419. I’ve shot both & I like the 419 better. Both brakes work well, but the ability to run a can off the 419 doesn’t hurt either. As a shooter (on the line), I find the APA Little Bastard to be a little louder than the 419 w/ more concussive effect. Having said that, I think the 419 mitigates recoil a bit more effectively. Your range buddies will like the 419 a bit better too!

Can the 419 be shot with just the adapter and thread projector but not the actual brake installed?

The more recoil reduction ere is the louder and more concussion there is. A brake "pulls the rifle off your shoulder", the more you feel and hear the more energy is being pushed in the opposite direction of the recoil.
There is no free lunch, Its just math.
If you don't need a brake to work with a can, the apa's are about the best you can find.

Good point; I failed to mention the APA was mounted on a 308 & the 419 was attached to a 6.5 CM. A small difference but a perceived difference nonetheless!
